Searching
mission - 20th March 2004, Sljeme, Zagreb
The
telephone bell-ringing at 8:45 am on
the 20th March and short but clear notice
given by Ana: "We are called for
an action", characterize all the
following day.
Meeting was fixed at 11 am at the car-park
near Sestinski lagvic where were found
the car of missing person. The missing
man was dissapeared two days ago and
we suspected that he's not alive.
The action conductor was Ana Baksa,
the member of Mountain Rescue Service
(MRS) "Zagreb". |
| |
Besides
their members, there was our team also
(in alphabetical order by names): our
conductor Ana Viller with labrador retriever
Ori, Davor Juravic with golden retriever
Ben, Jasna Kovacic with german shepherd
Ella, Mirela Bosnar with border collie
Gunna, Petra Covic golden retriever
Koni, Sara Marekovic with bearded collie
Toto, Tanja Janes with croatian shepherds
Miska & Edi and Ead Becirevic and
Tomislav Zdencar without dogs. |
| |
After
basic informations about the missing,
next came the talking about searching
area, drifting and methods. The area
included circling space between Sestinski
lagvic and City of Medvedgrad. It was
settled that we will form three groups:
first will go uphill to the Medvedgrad
and others will go downhill from the
Medvedgrad. Every team will be made
of one or more MRS and KOSSP members. |
In
most cases, for hard, large and sheer
ground, we choose fast dogs with easier
skelet and very motivated dogs. In this
case, there was bearded collie Toto
and border collie Gunna. |
| |
The
area wasn't so hard as it was at Plesivica
except occasionally sheerness. Most
of time, there was relatively easy to
surveyed. We had one time break for
the team wich was searching uphill.
After almost 3 hours, the "uphill"
team came back to Sestinski lagvic.
We were tired adn decided to take a
break before the last area we must check:
the car-park near Sestinski lagvic. |
| |
After
some time, we decided to search the
last area before others teams come back:
guys from MRS went directly downhill
and we went a little bit around with
our dogs 'cause there was pretty much
of glass and thorny bushes which wasn't
ideal for dogs paws.
And, we just prepare to realease our
dogs when we heard a call - the missing
person was found about 15 metres in
the bush. It was a suicide. We were
so close but it wasn't important because,
if we were earlier, the result would
be the same...
The teams which were still at the search
have been recalled and soon they came
back As the action end, we always do
a short resume of all the event beacuse
we always want to improve ourselves.
From time to time our sight was agitatedly
run to one direction. However, we were
content with fact that we gave some
piece of reliefe and comfort to the
family of founded person.
Nevertheless, mark of interrogation
wasn't erase by finding a young man
which took his life away. There is so
many questions and they all start with
why...
