| Gunna
passed SAR exam for searching in ruins of second
level |
| |
Early morning at 3:30 am, we went to Slovenia
for a SAR exam for search in ruins with my
friends Bruna,
Sara, Tibor, Tanja
and Tomislav. Moral and advisory human resource
was again our team leader Ana Viller.
Wheather was terrible: it was raining all
day constantly. |
Ruin was about 5 minutes from Kennel Club
where we got obedience and obstacles part.
Obedience and obstacles estimated Mr Andrej
Stanovnik while Mr Ljubo Meglic estimated searching
. There was 10 candidates and even 60% were
from Croatia. |
Ruin was half-broken two-floor building. By
left side of building run river. Near the river
and the building, there was other small house
which was conected to building with tunnel
(there was outdoor also). Beneath building,
it was dark tunnel. Technical support kept
up fire all the time as distraction and sometimes
did noise with wooden sticks. This distraction
moments are moments like in real actions. Must
say that noone dog showed any problem with
it. Building had one stairs which led to floors
and every dog must be very independent 'cause
of it (handler didn't see stairs to second
floor). All windows were broken and air was
flowing everywhere so that was reason why that
ruin was so difficult to dogs. |
First, I passed the obedience and
obstacles and go for a search. Since I went
for an exam of second level, I searched
maximum 40 minutes for 5 decoys. Gunna went
to first floor where she found decoy and then
left to lower part of building where she found
second decoy. There was 3 decoys left. Since
Gunna whined in one dark room before, I
send her to it. Gunnas barking showed me that
the decoy was found! The time was clocking...
Again, I send Gunna to upper floors and
bingo! The fourth decoy was there! One more
decoy was hidden in the ruin and there wasn't
much of time left. I was so tense while
Gunna was searching. Suddenly: WHOW, Gunna
barked and Anas and my face were full of smiles
:-) Exam was passed and our happiness was huge. |
The most difficult problem to me was decoy
hidden on the edge of ruin in one hall. Beneath
that hall was huge dark tunnel. You could see
decoy only by directing light to him. Head
lamp was very important in this case. Without
it, handlers couldn's see the decoy, they could
walk under him and not to see him. So, Gunna
was found him but when I came I couldn't see
him so I supposed that it was false marking.
I was so wrong. Gunna barked constantly trying
to show me the decoy, even showed me with
her paws. Suddenly, I lift my head to the upper
part and head lamp showed me a head of decoy.
Gunna was so good that day and learned me
something: that I must have more trust in her
when she bark :-)) |
